How to Get Started…

The RoboCupJunior Season

Your Journey in Robotics Begins Here

The RoboCup season is an exciting, structured pathway that guides young innovators from local competitions and workshops all the way to the International Championship. As students progress through each level, they deepen their skills, connect with like-minded peers, and showcase their robotics knowledge on increasingly competitive stages.

How do I know if RoboCup is in my region?

RoboCup has over 40 active regions worldwide. Each active region has a Regional Representative who is responsible for communicating and facilitating RoboCupJunior activities. We are always looking at on boarding new regions who wish to be involved in our community. Please contact us at junior_execs [@] lists.robocup.org

Many regions also host their own local competitions with their own local RoboCupJunior communities. However, as RoboCupJunior grows worldwide, so does the RoboCupJunior community. Be part of this great endeavor by:

Ready for Competition?

Local Competitions and Workshops

The RoboCup season kicks off with local competitions and workshops held in cities and towns around the world. Here, students get hands-on experience and learn from mentors and peers. These events are designed to introduce participants to the RoboCupJunior leagues while helping them develop foundational skills in robotics, programming, and teamwork.

Regional Qualifying Tournaments

After the local events, qualified teams move on to Regional Qualifying Tournaments, where the level of competition intensifies. Regional events bring together the best teams from multiple local competitions, usually at the National level, challenging students to further refine their robots and strategies.

  • Teams compete for qualifying positions at International events, adapting and upgrading their robots to handle more challenging tasks.
  • This stage encourages a collaborative community spirit, as teams share ideas, learn from each other, and begin forming connections with fellow robotics enthusiasts in their region.

Super-Regional Competitions

For teams that qualify at the regional level, the next step is the Super-Regional Competitions, which bring together the top teams from broader regions. Currently, RoboCupJunior holds three Super-Regional events to represent Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific regions.

International Competition

The season culminates in the International RoboCup Competition, where the top teams from each region compete. The International Competition is the ultimate event in the RoboCup Junior calendar, attracting participants from around the world and providing a global platform to celebrate and showcase young talent in robotics.
